Admission Procedure for DDE

Academic Year:

The Academic Year at the Directorate of Distance Education runs from 1st July to 30th June, with two semesters – JULY Session (July-December) and JANUARY Session (January-June).

Application Process:

Prospective students can obtain the application form with the prospectus from the official website www.audde.in by paying the prescribed application fee online. Before applying, candidates should check their eligibility, ensuring they meet the minimum educational qualifications required for the chosen program.

Eligibility Criteria:

For programs requiring a degree as the basic qualification, only candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under the patterns of 10+2+3, 11+2+2, or 11+1+3 years are eligible. Direct U.G. / P.G. Degrees obtained through OUS are not accepted. Degrees from unrecognized Universities/Colleges/Institutes by the University Grants Commission are not eligible. Students must complete the program within 3 years for P.G. / U.G. (Theory and Practical / Project) from the year of completion of the study period.

Spot Admission:

Candidates living near any Learner Support Centre (LSC) can opt for Spot Admission. Direct admission for all programs is possible at the LSC. Candidates must submit filled applications along with the required documents in person for spot admission.

Admission through Post:

Candidates can send the filled-in application along with self-attested copies of documents to the Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University. After admission confirmation, the signed identity card and original certificates will be returned through Registered post.

Cancellation Policy:

Admission will be canceled if certificates submitted are found to be bogus or fake, and fees remitted will be forfeited.

Fee Concession:

Differently-abled and visually challenged students certified by the Government of Tamil Nadu are exempted from tuition and special fees, provided they present a Disability Certificate issued by the District Welfare Officer.

University Examinations:

End Semester Examinations are scheduled twice a year in December (for JULY semester) and May (for JANUARY semester). Dates may change based on Government Guidelines.

Evaluation and Grading:

Evaluation is conducted for every End Semester Examination.
Internal assessment is based on assignment evaluation.
Performance is evaluated in terms of Percentage of Marks (PM) and converted to Grade Point (GP).
Total performance in each semester is rated by GPA.
CGPA is given at the end of the Final Semester Examination.
A ten-point rating scale is used for letter grades in each course and overall grading for the program.

Passing Criteria:

Students must secure a minimum of 40% marks in UG and 50% marks in PG in the end semester examination.
A minimum of 40 marks for UG and 50 marks for PG in both internal assessment and end semester examination is required.
A candidate who has secured a minimum marks in all courses and earned the required credits will be considered to have passed the program.
